And then there’s the character design, which is much more carefully considered than most modern blockbuster animation, particularly the gorgeous look of Sisu and her fellow dragons. Look at the streets in which Raya meets the baby and her monkeys-in-crime-they’re filled with bustling life and background detail that many movies like this simply ignore. Each of the lands that Raya and her compatriots travel to feel like fully-realized worlds. All of these lively characters were impacted by the stone’s fragmentation, and they form an unforgettable core in what is basically an old-fashioned adventure movie that recalls everything from Indiana Jones to " Princess Mononoke."ĭirectors Don Hall (“ Big Hero 6”) and Carlos López Estrada (“ Blindspotting”) imbue every design element of “Raya and the Last Dragon” with top-notch craftsmanship. Along the way, they are chased by the princess of a clan seeking full power named Namaari ( Gemma Chan), and encounter several memorable supporting characters, including the gregarious Boun ( Izaac Wang), one-eyed Tong ( Benedict Wong), and even a “con baby,” a kid who uses her undeniable cuteness as an alley con artist. Years later, Raya goes on a quest to find both Sisu (Awkafina) and the fragments of the stone, trying to bring her people back together and fulfill her father’s vision of loyalty. That stone resides with Benja and Raya’s people when the film begins, but the other clans of the now-divided world steal it, break it into pieces, and scatter it across the land. She sacrificed herself in the process, although rumors persist that she survived. As a villainous force was working its way across the land, turning people into stone, magical dragons united their forces together into a stone and one named Sisu used it to stop the pending apocalypse. Raya ( Kelly Marie Tran) has long heard the stories of the last dragon from her father Benja ( Daniel Dae Kim).

Overall, Networx is a nifty utility that does an effective job of monitoring bandwidth usage, and it has one other feature that I really like it’s portable. If you’re suspicious of a program monitoring your network traffic or maliciously connecting without your knowledge, Netstat can help make you aware of that. That can lead to serious problems, he added. “Every college student now has a casino in their back pocket,” since they can gamble online with their phones, said Jeffrey Reynolds, president and CEO of the Family & Children’s Association in Garden City. The problem is particularly pronounced among young males, experts said. As New York has turned into one of the nation's top online sports gambling locations, with $16.2 billion wagered last year, gambling treatment centers are struggling to keep up with demand. Starting last year, anyone 21 and older in New York could legally place sports bets on their phones at any time and anywhere in the state. A boom in legal online sports betting as well as slot machines and lotteries is fueling a rise in gambling addiction on Long Island, experts said. But while Hyper-V is fairly basic, it's user-friendly, and assuming you're not looking for advanced features like GPU acceleration, it's a perfectly good tool to use. That's probably the biggest negative, in that it's hidden (sort of) behind a paywall. Unfortunately on Windows 10 Home and Windows 11 Home you simply cannot use Hyper-V. Or it is if you're using the Pro version or Windows Server. If you're in need of a simple solution and you'd rather not tinker with additional software, there is of course Hyper-V, which is built into Windows 10 and Windows 11. Performance is also really good, though one of the limitations of the free version is that you can only have one VM running at a time. At its heart, VMware Workstation Player is really easy to use, with some more advanced features if you want to dive a bit deeper. Workstation Player also provides additional tools like GPU virtualization, USB pass-through, and the VMware Tools plugins allow you to seamlessly shut down and suspend VMs without having to have them open. You may run into some compatibility issues on some hardware if you're trying to virtualize Windows (nested virtualization), but it's still absolutely possible, alongside any Linux distribution you can think of. Naturally, the more resources you have, the better your VMs will run, but even on a lower-spec machine, you're not excluded. Perhaps surprisingly, VMware Workstation Player also doesn't command particularly high-end hardware to run. But for the most part, it's basically the same. There are differences between the two, and there are some useful features, like snapshots, hidden behind the paid version. VMware Workstation Player is a completely free-to-use version of its desktop VM software, Workstation Pro. That isn't totally untrue, but it's far from being true. You've probably heard of VMware and you probably assume it comes with some fairly hefty price attached.
